Marijuana (medicine)
Cannabis, or the cannabis plant, is a plant that produces psychoactive compounds. Pharmacologically, the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), one of 483 known compounds found in the cannabis plant. Other compounds known to be found in the cannabis plant include at least 84 other cannabinoids, including cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), and cannabigerol (CBG).
Humans commonly consume cannabis for its psychoactive and physiological effects, which include euphoria, relaxation, and increased appetite. Adverse side effects sometimes include decreased short-term memory, dry mouth, impaired motor skills, red eyes, and feelings of paranoia or anxiety.
